Toledo as ranks as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and for good reason. Not only for its fame in the 400 year old book, Don Quixote but its many places to see.
Puerta de Bisagra Nueva, Tornerías Mosque, Museo de El Greco (his recreated home) Iglesia de Santo Tome (designed by El Greco) The 13th century Gothic Cathedral and the Castillo de San Servando (castle) are just some of the amazing Toledo attractions that make this city a World Heritage Site.
Alcazar fortress (now home to the Spanish Army Museum) dominates the city landscape. Also worthy places to see include Galiana Palace, from the 13th century, the San Román Museum with its many Roman and Visigoth exhibitions, art and artefacts and the Renaissance Museo-Hospital de Santa Cruz, dating back to the 16th century. Many more await a visit.
Renowned for its ceramics, Talavera de la Reina has the Virgen del Prado, a basilica (Cathedral) that showcases the extraordinary glazed tiling that has been produced here for centuries.
Other sights include the Santa Catalina, a palace designed in baroque style,the Renaissance Cervantes college and the Santa Catalina bridge.
