In the south west corner of Spain and on the coast of the Atlantic just across from Africa, visitors go here to experience some of the best beaches, culture and best places to visit in the country.

Across the border in the south of Portugal is the Algarve, a region of fun in the sun and the most south west destination of continental Europe.

Sevilla, Andalusia

Being an important trading centre for Spain and the Americas, the city has thrived for centuries. Even today it is the business centre for the south east of Spain. There are a number of World Heritage Sites in the city, as well as important art galleries and museums.

Places to Visit here include the La Giralda Tower, the Seville Cathedral and the beautiful Plaza de España Square, surrounded by grand buildings. The city’s Moorish influence can be seen at the The Royal Alcázar of Seville.

Other sights to see: The Torre del Oro Tower, María Luisa Park and the Plaza de América Square.

Just north of the city is Itálica, birthplace of the Emperor Trajan. The Roman Ruins here are still impressive, including the amphitheatre.


This city on the coast, like Sevilla, is a major tourist destination in Spain. Cádiz is known to be the oldest city in Western Europe.

Cádiz is famous for its Flamenco dance and music. El Pópulo, the medieval town is quite attractive and the seafront has the Cathedral and the old cathedral, as well as a Roman amphitheatre.

You can experience some fantastic beaches here, even the old quarter has a beautiful beach, La Caleta. Nearby along the coast are other places to enjoy, including Costa de la Luz, Puerto Real and El Puerto de Santa María.

Jerez de la Frontera

Jerez de la Frontera produces superb wines and its Flamenco is also famous here, Santiago. There are also grand palaces to visit here.

Doñana Nature Reserve

One of the major reserve parks in Europe and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
