Recent archaeological discoveries in Rome include the cave of Lupercale, where legend had it Romulus and his brother Remus were raised by a she-wolf.

They have also found the remains of a royal palace that existed around the time of King Romulus’ legendary foundation of the city, April 21, 753 B.C.

Rome extended into an empire that lasted longer than any other, before or since and created a profound effect on European history.
